How to Utilise Video Marketing & Photo Sharing In 2018

By: Kelly Bolton   Date: December 6, 2017

We all love watching videos and looking at photos. That’s one reason they’re a key marketing tool for businesses. Photos and other images are a great way to catch someone’s attention and to share information, since humans are visual creatures and take in a lot of information from what they see. We love to share photos online, as well. Facebook, for example, is full of users sharing personal photos and re-sharing funny memes and images with inspirational quotes. And we love to watch videos on the Internet, of course. We love to stream movies and TV shows and watch funny videos and cat videos. We go to YouTube for DIY tutorials. And many of us live stream things on Facebook now, as well. Video is no doubt the king of the Internet, and doesn’t look to be dethroned any time soon. In fact, online video consumption is predicted to increase. This means businesses should be prepared to use video and photo sharing even more in 2018.

Here are few tips to consider:

Photo sharing:

  • First, decide if your business is a fit for it. Many businesses can benefit from photo sharing, such as tourism, food/restaurant, fashion, etc., which rely heaving on image to sell. However, if your business doesn’t lend well to using images for selling, like plumber, computer programmer, etc., you might want to reconsider since it’d be harder to come up with appealing photos.
  • Have great photo editing software to create attractive images.
  • Share photos that are interesting and original. Keep in mind that people generally like to see photos that are beautiful, unusual, funny, cute, and informative.
  • Encourage others to share your photos. Pinterest is a great site for this, as well as other social media sites. Be sure to engage with them, as well.
  • Be sure to link your photos to your website, blog, and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. And be sure to use titles, tags, and descriptions effectively so people can find them during searches and search engines can indentify them.
  • Promote. Be sure to add a link to your Pinterest or other photos sharing site your blog, website, and other marketing material.

Video marketing:

  • Engaging audiences on a personal level will be a big trend. Personalisation of content and a storytelling approach will be popular.
  • Live streaming and interactive broadcasting will become big, so consider those approaches. Live streaming is already fairly popular, and will likely become moreso.
  • When using Facebook, be sure to upload videos directly.
  • Videos should catch the viewer’s attention within the first 4 seconds.
  • Facebook 360 videos will become more popular, so consider using this immersive video style to engage viewers more directly.
  • Be sure to include a call to action in your video.
  • Explainer videos will be great to use. They’re short, uncomplicated videos that help explain to the viewer about a company and product/service, and can help drive results since more people are likely to watch the video than read the text.
